Wynton Marsalis' three-part Soul Gestures in Southern Blue of which this CD is the final section is a disappointment. None of the themes are particularly memorable and, although the individual solos are fine, not much really happens overall it is a rather weird tribute to the blues. Actually, the main significance to this particular set is that the trumpeter had for the first time put together the nucleus to his septet.
