After reading Terry Teachout's essay about what the music of the Herman and the Herd meant to him and about traveling with the band in its sad later days in the 1980s, I had to buy this album, and it does not disappoint. The mighty swing is historically important and absolutely sensational, a revelation and a joy. I have always liked the early Woody Herman records, particularly the one titled Blue Flame, which is on this album. Read more
