Thrasher was born in Aklavik, a hamlet located in the Inuvik region of the Northwest Territories, Canada, in 1948. borednow123 This album, and specifically this song, reminds me of my grandma telling me about my heritage. She'd play this for me and tell me about my ancestors. Favorite track: Beautiful. Willie Thrasher born 1948 is a Canadian Inuit musician from Aklavik, Northwest Territories. He has recorded both as a solo artist, and as a member of several bands, including The Cordells, and Red Cedar, with Morley Loon. Thrasher has advocated for Inuit and First Nations issues for much of his career. Northern Service: Spirit Child, a full-length studio album of original songs, and Sweet Grass, a live recording in Val-d'Or, Quebec, with fellow First Nations musicians Willy Mitchell, Morley Loon, and Roger House. Thrasher joined Morley Loon as part of his Vancouver-based Red Cedar group in the 1980s. 11 tracks 34:04. Formerly of Inuit rock band The Cordells, Thrasher culled his inspiration from Creedence Clearwater Revival and Neil Young, which are the most obvious points of reference on Spirit Child. The songs are ramshackle, bruised and vital, driven by Thrashers acoustic guitar and wobbly vocals. The gripping Forefathers has Thrasher singing about his Inuit land, where we dont need no oil or gold.
