It was released on June 20, 1989 and produced by Don Was. The song was a comeback of sorts for the band following their decline in popularity in the mid-1980s and the death of guitarist Ricky Wilson in 1985. Love Shack is considered the band's signature song and has been a concert staple since its release. Commercially, the single topped the charts in Australia, Ireland and New Zealand and reached. The track's inspiration was a cabin in Athens, Georgia USA, where the band originates from - which was located off the Atlanta Highway as per the lyrics. The song was produced by Don Was and the music video was directed by Adam Bernstein. The B-side to the track was Roam in the USA, with other countries having either Ch read more. The Love Shack is in many ways a state of mind a place where people of all stripes come for a groovy good time. The band drew inspiration from the club in the movie The Color Purple, and also from a real club outside of Athens, Georgia, called the Hawaiian Ha-Le, where they would hang out. The B-52s wanted Nile Rodgers to produce the Cosmic Thing album, but he was tied up on another project, so they started working on it with Was, planning to record three songs with him. In February 1991 The B-52s were nominated for a Grammy Award for Best Pop Vocal Performance by a Duo or Group for 'Roam' because they deserved it I think. First, it is the band's most mainstream album ever, spawning a certain huge hit song about a Chrysler as big as a whale that you may know. The professional wackos had ironed out just enough of their quirky underground kinks to appeal to an audience that just wanted to dance. The B-52's were ready to deliver. They'd lost guitarist Ricky Wilson to AIDS, but rather than making their first album since his death a sombe. This song is by The B-52's and appears on the album Cosmic Thing 1989 and on the album Time Capsule: Songs for a Future Generation 1998. This song has been covered by Glee Cast under the title Love Shack. This song has been sampled by Weird Al Yankovic in the song Polka Your Eyes Out.
