The Cleansing is the debut studio album by American deathcore band Suicide Silence. The album was released on September 18, 2007 through Century Media Records. Upon its release it debuted at 94 on the Billboard Top 200, selling 7,250 copies within the first week, and became one of the best-selling debut albums in Century Media's history. The album is noted for its unique engineered style, as it was tracked live in-studio as opposed to being recorded track-by-track. The Cleansing was recorded at King. Suicide Silence thrives on the angularity of math metal tempo changes are frequent, and lead singer Mitch Lucker constantly fluctuates between death metal's deep, guttural cookie monster growl and black metal's sinister, demonic-sounding rasp. Lucker makes it sound like a vocal duet, but in fact, he is the only lead singer on this 2007 release. Suicide Silence are a deathcore band from Riverside, California, United States that formed in 2002. The band has so far released three full-length albums on Century Media: The Cleansing, No Time to Bleed, and most recently The Black Crown. The band worked with renown producer Machine Lamb of God and various other bands who produced, mixed, engineered, and programmed No Time to Bleed. Suicide Silence's The Cleansing Album was released on the 18th of September 2007 by Century Media Records. This album is of the Deathcore genre and is considered to be on the more extreme side of the genre. The Cleansing contains 100 pure Deathcore. Overall The Cleansing is a great album that shows off some of their most brutal songs and is very good considering it is their debut album. The Cleansing is one of Century Media Records most successful debut albums. Even though this album is a bit repetitive It is worth the money for people who are into hardcore Deathcore. Review Summary: The Cleansing is Suicide Silence's major label debut that will appeal to some. Not so much to others. Myspace has given birth to many new and upcoming bands, especially in the metal genre. Suicide Silence has been branded with the much reviled Deathcore genre. There are some great songs on this record and its a definite step up from their demos, but it does suffer some small but obvious flaws. The album starts out with the Intro. Revelations not much to say about this track, its just some random sounds. One thing every -core record is plagued with, a foreboding intro to signal the battery to begin.
