Sign o' the Times often stylized as Sign the Times is the ninth studio album by American singer, songwriter, producer, and multi-instrumentalist Prince. It was first released as a double album on March 30, 1987, by Paisley Park Records and Warner Bros. The album is the follow-up to Parade and is Prince's first album following his disbanding of the Revolution. It was released worldwide in March 1987. Sessions and compiling. Eight of the album's seventeen tracks were included on various configurations of the Dream Factory album, planned as the fourth album by Prince and the Revolution. Much of Sign O the Times succeeds because Prince is doing things no one else can. On Adore, he works within the parameters of classic R&B - drums, organ, horns, vocals layered like tiers on a wedding cake -and simply beats every other loverman at his game. U Got the Look : The biggest single off Sign O the Times No. 2 on the Billboard Hot 100 may be the albums most straightforward lusty rock song. But its far from ordinary. Prince wanted Sign O' The Times to be a triple album called The Crystal Ball, but in a rare rebuke, his record company refused, and instead it was pared down to a double album. This was one of the first significant conflicts between Prince and Warner Bros. Records over the next few years Prince grew to resent the label, which was restricting his output.
