Brown Album is the fifth studio album by the American rock band Primus. It was released on July 8, 1997. It was the band's first album with new drummer Bryan Brain Mantia, who replaced former drummer Tim Alexander. The album has received a mixed reception from critics and fans. Brown Album was the first Primus release to not feature drummer Tim Herb Alexander and the first to feature Bryan Brain Mantia. The Brown album is my least favourite of Primus' first six albums, but I still really like it. I think it's better than their most recent album The Desaturating Seven and much better than Chocolate Factory. Some Primus fans don't like it because Herb is no longer the drummer and while Herb is my favourite Primus drummer, I think Brain sounds good on this album as long as your ear is not expecting Herb's fills and cymbal work. This new pressing sounds great and comes from the original analog tapes. The gatefold is nice and sturdy
