It was broadcast on the Blue NetworkABC, CBS, and NBC from September 30, 1930, to September 14, 1951. It was one of radio's earliest and longest lasting programs. Beginning August 10, 1944, the program was called Death Valley Sheriff, and on June 29, 1945, it became simply The Sheriff. In 1930, Ruth Woodman created a 30 minute American radio and television anthology under the sponsorship of Pacific Coast Borax Company, aka U. Borax Company, and named it Death Valley Days. The series later on became the most successful syndicated television series ever. The series featured real stories of the old American West, specifically in the area of Death Valley. The series ended by 1945 but it was revived in 1952 as a syndicated television series. The revived version of Death Valley Days ended in year 1975. Radio Shows. Boraxs history in Death Valley goes back seven million years, to a time when volcanic activity and flash flooding hammered the land surface. Satisfied that the Death Valley deposit was indeed borax, the men established title to a half section of mineralized land, 22 miles south of Aaron Winters find. They founded the Eagle Borax Company, an enterprise entirely independent of the Coleman operation. They hauled a boiling pan and crystallizing tanks in over the mountains. In the mid-1930s, an advertising agency tapped into the endless popularity of all things Western by developing the Death Valley Days radio program for sponsorship by the company, now known as Borax Consolidated. As a result of going on the air, the consumer product end of the corporation helped boost the financial fortunes of Borax Consolidated.
