It's About That Time Live at Fillmore East, New York, NY - June 17, 1970. Jarrett, who venerated Miles, went along, very playfully, spicing up the free deliriums of the Corea-Holland-DeJohnette trio, without, however, being able to really participate: the two keyboards were located on opposite sides of the stage and the still rudimentary sound system of the powerfully amplified music prevented them from hearing one another. This four-disc set contains all four concerts. Through the groundbreaking album Bitches Brew knew jazz trumpeter Miles Davis in 1970 a rock audience. With its fantastic band, full of band leaders in spe as bass player Dave Holland and keyboardists Chick Corea and Keith Jarrett, then the jazz stages were swapped for pop festivals (among other Isle Of Wight) and music venues. Fillmore East (New York) and Fillmore West (San Francisco) are former rock and hippie temples with legendary status, if only because of the many famous live albums have been recorded (The Allman Brothers Band, Cream, Frank Zappa). In June 1970, Davis played four nights in a row in New York. Recordings of these concerts were fixed by his producer Teo Macero cut up to the double album Miles Davis At Fillmore (1970). A collage which finally pulled out to the four complete concerts, supplemented by sporadic material from an earlier concert at the Fillmore West. Four CDs full of brooding funk, abstract solos and free-rock excesses in practically the same set list four times; of course, is that too much of a good thing. But the group is evening after evening on drove and Miles Davis collectors can lick their fingers at this beautifully designed jewel that also includes an informative and richly illustrated booklet.
