Bob Dylan is the debut studio album by American singer-songwriter Bob Dylan, released on March 19, 1962 by Columbia Records. Produced by Columbia's legendary talent scout John H. Hammond, who signed Dylan to the label, the album features folk standards, plus two original compositions, Talkin' New York and Song to Woody. Hester had invited. Bob Dylan has become the oldest artist to reach number one in the UK charts with an album of new material. The singer-songwriter's 39th album, Rough And Rowdy Ways, made its debut at the top with 34,000 chart sales, including 29,000 purchased on CD. At the age of 79, Dylan surpasses Paul Simon, who was 74 when his album Stranger To Stranger went to number one in 2016. The oldest artist overall to reach the summit was the late Dame Vera Lynn. Rock and roll is basically getting older. Текст песни: Come you Ladies and you Gentlemen, a-listen to my song Sing it to you right but you might think its wrong Just a little glimpse of a story Ill tell Bout an East Coast city that you all know New York. Written by: Bob Dylan. Ramblin outa the wild West Leavin the towns I love the best Thought Id seen some ups and downs Til I come into New York town People goin down to the ground Buildings goin up to the sky. Wintertime in New York town The wind blowin snow around Walk around with nowhere to go Somebody could freeze right to the bone I froze right to the bone New York Times said it was the coldest winter in seventeen years I didnt feel so cold then. I swung onto my old guitar Grabbed hold of a subway car And after a rocking, reeling, rolling ride I landed up on the do. New York was as good a place to be as any. Greenwich Village is drastically different now from the place Mr. Dylan left behind, but there are still remnants from his days of leading a generation-defining music scene, and landmarks worth exploring for aspiring Dylanologists. Macdougal Street. I was there to find singers, the ones Id heard on record, Mr. Dylan wrote in Chronicles, but mostly to find Woody Guthrie, the folk hero he would model himself after in his early performing days. At last I was here, in New York City, a city like a web too intricate to understand and I wasnt going to try. Early Bob Dylan Photos. On the album jacket to Peter, Paul and Marys 1963 LP In The Wind Dylan described his earliest days in the city. Snow was piled up the stairs an onto the street that first winter when I laid around New York CityIt was a different street thenIt was a different villageNobody had nothinThere was nothing to getInstead of being drawn for money you were drawn for other peopleIt is f these times that I remember most sadlyFor. Bob Dylan 1962 We don't actually hear a Bob Dylan song until Talkin' New York comes on after the first track. In an album largely made up of covers, Dylan had his work cut out for him. He needed to take songs which were not his and make them his, which is debatably more difficult than writing one's own songs. Since the song was largely made up of old folk standards, Christianity and references to Jesus Christ pepper the album. In hindsight, it looks like an intentional foreshadowing for his 1980 album, Saved, which revolves around his newfound Christian faith. Album Review: Bob Dylan Fallen Angels. Dylans songs are an ever-shifting tapestry of incalculable depth. His references range wildly, from the literary to the political to the personal, but remain most deeply in conversation with themselves. Each new song sets off a reverse domino effect, reaching back into the past and redefining, whether subtly or overtly, what we thought we knew. To honor this endless, shifting legacy, weve attempted to rank and reorder Dylans studio albums within the shadow of time and progress. The New York sessions for Bob Dylans 1975 album, Blood on the Tracks, have always been ground zero for Dylans reputation as a cipher and a curmudgeon in the recording studio, intent on speeding through the proceedings and capturing lightning in a bottle, quality control be damned. By the time Dylan and Brown attempt the song for the last time in New York, in a remarkable version recorded at the eleventh hour of those sessions, Dylan has seemingly wrung all he can out of Tangled Up in Blue. Still, Dylan would revisit the song just three months later-this time in Minneapolis-in the version that we would all come to love and obsess over
