Anthology is a compilation by Asia highlighting the John Payne era up to 1997. Re-recordings of John Wetton-era material were prompted by a lawsuit filed by Wetton when the original versions were used on the initial release in Japan. If you're assuming that Asia's 1999 release, ANTHOLOGY, is a best-of collection that features the original versions of the band's biggest hits, you're mistaken. Due to a court order obtained by original Asia singerbassist John Wetton, the vocals for the songs he originally sang on had to be re-recorded the vocal and bass duties on ANTHOLOGY are handled by John Payne. Think about has every Asia album up to '97 sampled with a few songs each, plus two new cuts. What's not to like As others have mentioned, you do get re-recordings of 80's Asia classics Heat of the Moment, Only Time Will Tell, Don't Cry, The Heat Goes On, Go, and while some bits of them are good, I still prefer the original recordings. The latter is a great song. From Arena we get the title track and Two Sides Of The Moon, not the best songs from that album. Different Worlds was a new song at the time and released here for the first time at least I think so, and Reality was only released on Archiva.
