Timesbold is an American indie rock band comprising Jason Merritt aka Whip , Max Lichtenstein, and Dan Goebel , along with multi-instrumentalists Tony San Marco, Eli Schneider, Jesse Sparhawk and Max Avery Lichtenstein who also handles production duties. They draw from a palette of instruments that includes mellotron, mandolin, harmonium, horns, banjo, vibraphones, concert harp, bowed saw, lo-fi electronics, old vinyl and much more. Whip: Alias for American folk musician Jason Merritt who lives in Portland, Oregon. He is a full-time member of Timesbold, as well as writing solo records under the Whip pseudonym. Merritt was born in upstate New York, and lived in Brooklyn where he wrote four Whip records before forming Timesbold. Whip and Timesbold records are now both regularly released. The two founding members, Bruce Carter and Danny Saville, previously played in the band Nylon Pylon, who were signed to London Records and supported The Music on their 2003 Tour. Other members of The Whip are Nathan Sudders bass, who also plays in Manchester band Tokolosh and Fiona Li'l Fee Daniel drums, who was previously in Colne based band Earl.
