Founded in 1973 in the Los Angeles area, Ya Ho Wha 13, otherwise known as Ya Ho Wa 13 or Yahowha 13, is a psychedelic rock band fronted by Father Yod, spiritual leader of a religious cultcommune called the Source Family. Ya Ho Wha without the vowels and spaces reduces to YHWH, the tetragrammaton. The band recorded nine LPs full of their extreme psychedelic sound with tribal drums and distorted guitars, some of which were completely unrehearsed jam sessions, others which contained more conventional. Isis Aquarian was one of Father Yod's 13 women and designated Keeper of the Records at the commune. Her massive photographic archive and close relationship with Father Yod and the other Source family members give her a unique and intimate perspective to tell the story of the Source Family. Electricty Aquarian was a Sun of Yahowha and Source Family brother to Isis Aquarian. Father Yods conspicuous absence is felt on Ya Ho Wha 13s Savage Sons of Ya Ho Wha and the Spirit of 76 album, All Or Nothing At All. By 1975, Father Yod and the rest of the Source Family had fled Hollywood for Hawaii in an effort to slip away from CPS agents concerned with reports of frequent staph infections from local ERs, law enforcement, building inspectors, health inspectors, and anyone else objecting to their way of life. The move to Hawaii marked the end of the road for Father Yod and the Source Family as they were met with fear and threats of gun violence. There was once a restaurant whose employees were tight-knit, so entangled, and so beloved that they became a family, and eventually a cult.
