Among the rarest R&B labels ever based in Chicago, Parrot Records, which existed from 1953 until 1956, was essentially a one-man operation, the dream-child of concert promoter and sometime deejay Al Benson. Operated mostly out of Benson's home, Parrot never had any serious distribution outside of the Chicago area.
