However, the latter lost its nerve in time, releasing the perplexing hair metal misfire that was 1988's Cold Lake. It took over a decade for Celtic Frost to truly reconcile and return to their trail for 2006's Monotheist, but they fell apart yet again shortly afterwards. Triptykon's first album, Eparistera Daimones, was fueled by the anger withinguitarist, vocalist, and primary songwriter Thomas Gabriel Fischer over the tumultuous breakup of Celtic Frost, the pioneering metal group he was long associated with. Melana Chasmata is the follow up to Eparistera Daimones, and while it retains much of the strength of its predecessor, it doesn't quite feel like the triumph Triptykon's debut did. Century Media. Tree of Suffocating Souls gives off weird vibes with its opening notes, distant string bends sounding a lot like Triptykon may have jumped on the blackened shoegaze bandwagon.
