For I Was The Moon, the band revisited songs originally intended for their sophomore album. Over the past two years, Three Merry Widows has been convening at Sawhorse Studios in St. Louis to bring these songs to life.

Wed track live and build on that foundation. Somehow, it really worked. The songs of I Was the Moon will make up the bulk of the bands set at Delmar Hall on April 5. Simpson figures that about 30 tracks are in the mix for possible play, but fewer than the 22 songs played at The Ready Room will make the final setlist. After a number of lineup changes, the band settled into a groove with Alice Spencer lead vocals, Sean Garcia guitarvocals, Brian Simpson guitar, Charles Shipman bass, and Matt Albert drums. The album was released in March of 1991, and the band toured for the better part of the following year, sharing the stage with national acts such as Trip Shakespeare, Firehose, The Connells, Nirvana, Soul Asylum, School of Fish, Ziggy Marley, and Billy Bragg. Their first single, Black Halo, broke the Top 10 on the College Music Journal charts. Three Merry Widows: Live at Delmar Hall was recorded on Friday, April 5th, 2019 at the famed Delmar Hall in St, Louis, MO. This show marked the release of the Widows' second studio album, I Was The Moon. All proceeds will go to the St. Louis Arts & Music Fund to help artists in need in the St. Louis, MO community. The Stargazers' recording reached number one in the UK Singles Chart in 1954.
