Dedication: The Very Best of Thin Lizzy is a compilation album released by rock group Thin Lizzy in 1991. The only previously unreleased track was Dedication, which was reconstructed after Phil Lynott's death using an old 8 track demo recording of the Grand Slam song originally recorded around 1985 and written by guitarist Laurence Archer. This track was the subject of a High Court case, as following Lynott's death Thin Lizzy released this track as a lost Thin Lizzy track, removing Archer's guitar. Thin Lizzy. Several Thin Lizzy best-of collections have surfaced over the years such as 1981's Adventures of Thin Lizzy and 1984's Lizzy Lives, but the best two are undeniably 1996's Wild One and 1991's Dedication. While not as extensive as Wild One only one track is featured from their '80s work, Dedication contains more early selections than the other mentioned titles. The band got back together five years after Phil Lynotts untimely 1986 passing to finish a song that he'd started. Lynott had recorded a demo for Dedication in 1985 on an old eight-track he sang and played bass. The rest of Dedication-The Very Best of Thin Lizzy delivers a generous offering of 17 other songs, mostly harvested from the bands earlier catalog. The full version of Whiskey in a Jar opens, setting the stage for such fan favorites as the smooth Dancing in the Moonlight and the definitive version of Bob Segers Rosalie.
