For this collection, arranger Ernie Freeman wrote orchestral parts to overdub the original Co & Ce masters of You're the One, Five O'Clock World, and Magic Town since all the Reprise songs were orchestrated. Much of the success the Vogues enjoyed is due to arrangerconductor Ernie Freeman, a man who worked with and played piano or organ on sessions by dozens of artists over the decades. He also released several instrumentals under his own name. To name one, Freeman's cover of Raunchy peaked at 4 on Billboard's Pop chart and was a 1 R&B hit. Brilliant album got this because the KFC add brought back many happy memories. Loved all the tracks. Delivery faster than expected. A doo wop vocal group from the Pittsburgh area, the Vogues started well in the mid-'60s with You're the One, an infectious bit of folk-rock with enough of a British Invasion feel to earn it heavy play on AM radio. Five O'Clock World was an even better single, a two-minute blast of timeless release, chronicling the feel of getting off work with the whole night still ahead, that one instant when everything is a possibility and the future has not yet arrived with its schedule of deadlines and pressures.
