Bits and Pieces is a song by 1960s quintet The Dave Clark Five. The single hit number two in the UK and number four in the US, as well as being a success in other countries. It was number two in Australia and number one in Canada and Ireland. It reached number four in the Netherlands. In Germany, however, it only reached the 20th place. Lead vocals are sung by Mike Smith, who also wrote the song. The song is in antiphonal style, with Mike Smith singing a solo line and the whole group responding. The Typhoons name was coined in February 1963 as Embassy UK found themselves covering increasingly more records by beat bands rather than the more traditional solo singer recordings that had dominated the hit parade in previous years. Ray Pilgrim and Mike Redway recorded the first Typhoons track for Embassy on 7th February 1963. which probably made them the worlds very first recording Beatles tribute band The Typhoons only existed as a studio band. The actual singers involved were in fact chosen from Embassys existing roster of artists.
