The Three Sounds also known as The 3 Sounds were an American jazz piano trio that formed in 1956 and disbanded in 1973. The band formed in Benton Harbor, Michigan, United States, as the Four Sounds. The original line-up consisted of Gene Harris on piano, Andrew Simpkins on double bass and Bill Dowdy on drums, along with saxophonist Lonnie The Sound Walker, who dropped out the following year. The group moved to Washington and then New York, where, as the Three Sounds, they cut a record for. The 3 Sounds is an album by American pianist Gene Harris recorded in 1971 and released on the Blue Note label. Although it is titled after Harris' group The Three Sounds, the album is a transitional effort. Carl Burnett, the drummer from The Three Sounds, is present. Making his first appearance with Harris is bassist Luther Hughes, who would become the regular bassist of the Gene Harris Quartet in the 1990s. Moods is an album by jazz group The Three Sounds released in 1961 on the Blue Note label. It was recorded the same day Feelin' Good was recorded. They retain the same light touch that made their early albums so enjoyable, but they add more textures to the mix. on the whole, Moods is an endearing collection of appealing mainstream jazz. Today's Sounds is a soul jazz music live album recording by THE THREE SOUNDS released in 1966 on CD, LPVinyl andor cassette. Even the pianist's two originals are a bit disappointing.
