The daughter of a wealthy German newspaper proprietor and Nora Forster. The latter was also known in the music industry for dating Jimi Hendrix and Chris Spedding, and would go on to marry Sex Pistols singer John Lydon aka Johnny Rotten. Sure, they existed right in the fermament of the late 70's punk scene. But they carved out a musical place that is still only theirs. In 1977 and 1978, The Slits did these two sessions for John Peel's Radio 1 programme, reproduced here in their entirety. Peel swore they were two of the best sessions he ever had. The Slits wre four women who made a naive yet compelling noise. This was at the time of punk and a diy attitude to music.
