Back Door Men is the second album by The Shadows of Knight. Both this album and its predecessor, Gloria, were released in 1966 and are considered to be seminal garage band albums. As noted by one reviewer, The original LP version of this album, the second by the legendary white Chicago garage punkblues outfit, was one of the most sought-after artifacts of mid-'60s punk rock. Back Door Men was a loud, feedback-laden, sneering piece of rock & roll defiance, mixing raunchy anthems to teenage lust. Shadows of Knight is the third studio album by American garage rock band The Shadows of Knight, and was released on Super K Productions, SKS 6002, in 1969. Recording for the album came after lead vocalist Jim Sohns revamped the Shadows of Knight's line-up and signed with Super K. Although Shadows of Knight did not chart and was the last album featuring new material by the group until A Knight to Remember, a single taken from the effort, Shake, became a moderate national success in the United States. While their first album, with Gloria is primarily a blues rave up, Back Door Men boasts a variety of styles. Their version of Hey Joe is very original, and Three For Love has an almost Byrds-like quality to it with 12 string and harmony vocals to match.
