GRRR is a greatest hits album by The Rolling Stones. Released on 9 November 2012 in Europe, and the rest of the world on 12 November, it commemorates the band's 50th anniversary. The album features two new songs titled Doom and Gloom and One More Shot, which were recorded in August 2012. Doom and Gloom peaked at No. 61 in the UK Charts, No. 26 on the Billboard Japan Hot 100 and No. 30 on the Billboard Rock Songs chart in October 2012. Rolling Stone named Doom and Gloom the 18th best song of 2012. November 13, 2012 5:20AM ET. GRRR GRRR By. Anthony DeCurtis. As a 50th-anniversary souvenir, the Stones have assembled a three-disc, 50-track compilation that is the best and most comprehensive collection of the bands high points available. Doom and Gloom, one of two new songs here, is the Stones at their best nasty, funny, sexy and rocking hard. As for the rest, its impossible to overstate the importance of these songs. The Stones obsession with American blues and R&B Time Is on My Side, Little Red Rooster transforms into a sexually charged class critique 19th Nervous Breakdown . Listen free to The Rolling Stones GRRR Come On, I Wanna Be Your Man and more. 89 tracks 341:58. Graced with cover art of a grotesque gorilla sporting the Stones' trademark leering lips, GRRR doesn't quite have the classy veneer usually associated with a 50th anniversary collection. Frankly, that's a good sign for the Rolling Stones: they're celebrating their half-century together but refusing to take themselves too seriously, even when they're assembling a mammoth retrospective that's available in three different incarnations. GRRR The Rolling Stones. Released November 12, 2012. GRRR Tracklist. GRRR is a greatest hits album by The Rolling Stones released in 2012 in commemoration of the bands 50th anniversary. From The Rolling Stones' website: Available in five different formats, including a three-CD 50 track version including 50 tracks, and a four-CD super-deluxe version gathering a whopping 80 tracks, the collection tells the fascinating ongoing story of the Greatest RocknRoll Band In The World, from their high octane version of Chuck Berrys Come On, their first single issued in June 1963, via. The newer songs on the Rolling Stones's album Grrr may not have struck oil, but the band's energy remains undimmed, their back catalogue endlessly renewable, writes Helen Brown. Where 40 Licks opens with 1968s Street Fighting Man, Grrr revs into action with the Stones first single, bizarrely Awol from 40 Licks. Released in 1963, Come On was a Chuck Berry cover. But whereas the original saw Berry delivering his lines about his clapped-out car as though he were leaning nonchalantly against the bumper, Jagger snarls his frustration like a man grinding the key over and over. The Rolling Stones Format: Audio CD. Also, GRRR uses the LET IT BLEED version of Midnight Rambler, while HOT ROCKS uses the live recording from Get Yer Ya-Ya's Out Remastered. This fall the Rolling Stones will re-release a significant portion of their hits catalog with a muli-disc greatest album called 'Grrr' The band announced three-disc and four-disc options, allowing fans to snag up to 80 of their most important and best known works, plus two new songs cut specifically for this project. The new songs are called 'Gloom and Doom' and 'One Last Shot' and were recorded last month in Paris. A press release points out that this is the first time the foursome have recorded together since finishing 'A Bigger Bang' for a 2005 rele.
