Charles Gerhardt does an excellent job with Max Steiner's GONE WITH THE WIND SCORE. I loved this RCA Classic Film Score series. I had them all on LP. This version gave the score new depth and fidelity and it just flowed so well. Charles Gerhardt conducting the National Philharmonic Orchestra here sounds simply brilliant and is never glaring or overstated. It is a very heartfelt recording. Selznick of Selznick International Pictures and directed by Victor Fleming. Leigh's American agent was the London representative of the Myron Selznick talent agency headed by David Selznick's brother, one of the owners of Selznick International, and she had requested in February that her name be submitted for consideration as Scarlett. To compose the score, Selznick chose Max Steiner, with whom he had worked at RKO Pictures in the early 1930s. The soundtrack to Gone With the Wind has appeared in numerous forms since its first release on LP in the 1950s. The 1990 CBSSony reissue was the second attempt to expand its content significantly, adding some incidental music and refining the sound that appeared on the previous MGM and Polydor versions.
