The IGGYs (also known as The I G G Ys, The I G G Y, The Iggy, or The Iggies) was a punk band from Lancaster New Hampshire formed in 2012. The members went by stage names, with the singer known as "The Mullumbimby Mumbler," two bass players called "Sydney Kelley" and "Amethyst Azalea," and "Pu$$y Liqueur" on guitar. The band exclusively performed covers of Iggy Azalea songs, stating in a zine released with their album that "Queen Iggy Azalea is a sign of perfection in a dark world. The four of us have never seen a more beautiful creature to walk the Earth. Queen Iggy Azalea is pure punk power. Who could hear her song "Murda Bizness" and come away with any other conclusion than that the God of Music Himself has decided to bless us with a redemmer (sic) of hip-hop? It is IMPERATIVE that all people buy her music, begin dressing like her, acting like her, and telling everyone friends (sic) they know that SHE IS YOUR QUEEN! Queen Iggy Azalea must be respected and admired by all people in all places at all times forever and ever and ever. We love her hair, her eyes, her nose, her mouth, her neck, her back, her tits, her arms, her hands her tummy, her ass, her PU$$Y, her thighs, her legs, her feet, etcetera. We have been listening to music since we were born, music from the present and the past and even the future, and we realize that Queen Iggy Azalea's album THE NEW CLASSIC is the greatest album since Pepper and her song FANCY is the greatest song since Summer Is A-Comin' In. We will continue to listen and play as long as she is our Queen (forever)." Fans of the local music scene have often debated about whether The IGGYs were truly obsessed with Azalea or facetious performing artists, with a consensus being that the truth probably lies somewhere in the middle.
The IGGYs released only one known album, entitled "You Already Know," the album had an extremely limited release of 23 copies on CD. Currently, no copies of the CD have resurfaced, though the empty case that I own shows that the tracklist is near identical to Iggy Azalea's 2014 release The New Classic, with the exclusion of the track New Bitch and the addition of Azalea's 2012 single Murda Bizness (placed after Walk the Line).
In 2015, the IGGYs performed a set in a Vermont club in the woods. The concert was cut short after only one song, a performance of Fancy. The crowd booed and jeered the whole time, though The IGGYs continued performing. When it appeared the crowd was going to rush the stage, they dropped their instruments and ran off stage. They were never seen again.
