Thunder, Lightning, Strike is the debut studio album by English band The Go Team. It was initially released on British label Memphis Industries on 13 September 2004, but was quickly reworked to avoid legal issues and re-released in October 2005. The album was the project of founder member Ian Parton, who over the course of 2003 recorded demos and musical ideas after work onto many dozens of cassettes using a lo-fi 4-track recorder, and titled each tape with a potential song name idea. Teams Thunder, Lightning, Strike is an explosion of colour and energy that evokes images of high school sports meets, inner-city summer days and the liberty of youth. The six-pieces maximalist sound, with its two drums, choral chants, air-raid siren guitars, record-scratching and strong overriding melodies made the album impossible to ignore upon release in 2004. Recorded in the basement of Ian Partons parents house, the album maintains its scratchy, DIY aesthetic despite its vastly ambitious scale.
