The Dave Clark Five is a US-only compilation double-album by The Dave Clark Five. The double-LP was released in 1971 three years after the group's last US studio album entitled Everybody Knows. It features 20 studio tracks in true stereo. As all but the group's last three commercial US albums were issued in re-channeled stereo, fifteen tracks make their U. true stereo debut in this two-disc package, the exceptions being Good Love Is Hard To Find, Sitting Here Baby, Inside and Out. In January 1964 they had their first UK top ten single, Glad All Over, which knocked the Beatles' I Want to Hold Your Hand off the top of the UK Singles Chart. It peaked at No. 6 in the United States in April 1964. Although this was their only UK No. 1, they topped the US chart in December 1965, with their cover of Bobby Day's Over And Over. The Dave Clark Five packed a mean one-two punch with Glad All Over and Bits and Pieces. But after that splash, the group lost all of its momentum. This 1967 release gets an 'A' for effort. There are noble attempts to try different styles here blues, hard rock - with fuzz guitar, no less, but none of it quite comes off, and the material is particularly dated for Summer of Love 1967. The DC5 were best at straight-ahead pop h. The Dave Clark Five had the hardest rock sound anyone had heard to this were even louder and harder than the Beatles singing Twist and Shout or Please Please Me. There was nothing to rival them. This harder music of the Beatles and Dave Clark Five created an interest in the British Invasion by boys who had not been totally enthusiastic about the American Bandstand scene of the early 60's though I liked both.
