Herbert Chwalek of the Power said that The disc is just damn horny from beginning to end and effortlessly blows away most of the oh-so-tough bands. In a March 2007 interview, The Crown frontman Johan Lindstrand revealed that Deathrace King was his favourite album amongst The Crown's discography. There are eleven tracks on this album and all of them are forceful deaththrash attacks, but there are three tracks that have a slower and calmer pace if you compare them to the other songs, these songs are Dead Mans Song, Vengeance and Killing Star. The rest of the songs are highly intensive and quite extreme, and there might be some repetitive warnings throughout the overall album material but the band does a good job to create some variety among the songs. The title Deathrace King and the back cover's Born to Race credo are early clues. Throw the disc on though and all suspicions will be confirmed by the snare drum's classic hardcore sound: speed is the impetus and Deathrace King is pure killer thrash. The term thrash might sound like a relic of the '80s but the Crown are a throwback, the thrashspeed metal spirit infusing their muddy, underground sound. What Deathrace King has managed to do is completely annihilate the remainder one percent with absolute ease. I was introduced to this band when I heard the track Total Satan on some compilation, the name of which I cant quite remember. It certainly sounded like Kill Em All era Metallica sped up by nearly 5 times. The second half of the album continues in the same fashion with Total Satan as mentioned earlier being the fastest, Blitzkrieg Witchcraft the catchiest, Dead Mans Song the grooviest and the finisher Killing Star ending this fine record in epic style with an intro lead guitar solo so beautifully written it would feel like a nostalgic throwback to the eighties charm
