I Just Can't Stop It is the debut album by UK 2 tone band the Beat. The album was released in 1980 via Go Feet Records in the UK. It was released the same year in the US on Sire Records under the band name The English Beat. This is one of the best ska albums I have come to own, Mirror in the Bathroom has a surprising number of levels which can only be appreciated in high-bitrate mp3flac, or as I heard it first, on vinyl. I Just Can't Stop It was a late arrival onto the checker- boarded scene, the Specials, Madness and the Selecter had all beat the English Beat to the punch, but luckily this wasn't a race. Besides, the band had already primed the pump with a trio of Top 10 singles - the double A-sided Tears of a ClownRanking Full Stop, Hands Off She's Mine and Mirror in the Bathroom, their debut album followed hard on Mirror's heels, picking up the latter two songs and Full Stop to boot. And it was this sheer diversity of influences that set The Beat's sound apart from their compatriots. I just can't stop it - listening to this 3 disc set that is I remember back in the 80's when I first purchased the Two-Tone single Tears of A Clown, I fell in love with that version because I loved the original just as much. I flipped the vinyl disc over and lo and behold was the song that I had heard on an fm station and that of course is Ranking Full Stop. Then I bought the album when it was released as there were no cds until a couple years later. I had purchased all of their albums, but this was the show-stopper.
