The Barry Sisters: Claire Barry nee Clara Bagelman, born 1925, died 1976 and Merna Barry nee Minnie Bagelman, born 1923 were Jewish sisters from the Bronx, New York Their career as Yiddish jazz singers stretched from the late 1930s until the early 1970s. n nWhen the ' version of the Yiddish song, Bei Mir Bist Du Schön, became a hit, musician and composer Sam Medoff started his Yiddish Melodies in Swing radio program on New York's WHN. The Barry Sisters performed on the program from 1937 until the mid '50s. On television they appea. Our Way is the eleventh and final album by the Barry Sisters, released by Mainstream Records in 1973. On this album, the sisters took on the '20s pop chestnut Tea For Two and used Yiddish to return the vanilla Perry Como smash It's Impossible to its Mexican bolero roots. Our Way is clearly a 'seventies album. Their cover of Raindrops Keep Fallling On My Head, here called Trop'ns Fin Regen Oif Mein Kop, begins a series of ten tracks of charm which steer clear of schmaltz. I'm using schmaltz as a negative term in this instance
