Album
The Best of the Band is the first greatest hits package by Canadian-American rock group The Band. Featuring ten tracks taken from six of their first seven albums not counting 1974's Before the Flood or 1975's The Basement Tapes, both with Bob Dylan, it featured two tracks from the first, second, third and seventh albums, one each from the fourth and fifth, rounded out by the 1976 single Twilight. All tracks are written by Robbie Robertson, except where stated. That said, for the real neophyte, this single-disc, 11-song album may be as good as anything. It contains the Band's two most famous songs, The Weight and The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down, as well as the group's only Top 30 hit, Up on Cripple Creek, and such songs as Tears of Rage and Stage Fright that they probably played at nearly every show they performed. It's true that if you really want to understand the Band, you have to hear all of Music from Big Pink and The Band. The Band is ranked number 138 in the overall artist rankings with a total rank score of 17,752. The Band official website: . This album has all the songs I wanted, the obvious three biggest hits, in addition to one that is not always found on the other greatest hits albums: 'Life Is A Carnival'. The Minneapolis black-metal band False dont play songs they paint with sound at a glacial pace, with darkness as their muse. Building off the epic foundation of their 2015 debut album Untitled, Portent is their masterpiece, a larger-than-life triptych that fleshes out their already-overwhelming hellscapes with more texture and contrast. The rest of the album finds her fighting to maintain that tranquility as greater success looms on the horizon. And home -well, that was an abstract concept: As an African now living in Australia, she still carries the Motherland in her spirit, and wanted to tell the world of its illustrious beauty. Perhaps the best album by any Rock and Roll group ever. Timeless, soulful, seamless, a work that goes far beyond and yet is front-porch friendly. Music from Big Pink had been a fine, even superior debut The Band was their masterpiece. Robbie Robertson's songwriting had grown by leaps and bounds. In 1997 the TV channel VH-1 made a documentary program about the making of The Band, the program is available on video. Rhino released a box set in May 1998 containing this video and the CD The Band. A special vinyl LP reissue of The Band, produced using analog cutting from analog tapes, was released by EMI in 1997 as part of their Centenary series
