Perhaps unconventional would be a more ideal generalization, though, since, the one thing all these acts do have in common is the desire to reject mainstream music clichés and try to do things differently. In accordance with this line of reasoning, what qualifies Dutch band Textures as inherently unconventional is their staunch refusal to finish songs the way they started them - never mind following pop music's typical versechorusversechorusbridgechorus pattern in any way, shape or form. Drawing Circles is the second album by Dutch metal band Textures. It also marks the first album with vocalist Eric Kalsbeek. A video was made for the track Millstone. Drawing Circles is the follow up to their critically acclaimed 2004 release Polars, and while it essentially carries through the same idea, I feel it does everything that much better. The band's had two years between releases and it would seem they used it wisely this album IS that good. The sound and general style of the album is both simple and complicated, meaning I could simply say it's complicated. This album, which features a new singer since their previous album, goes through many spectrums of progressive metal all the while remaining in their comfort zone of polyrhythmic madness. This is what would happen if Devin Townsend joined Meshuggah. Get album. In 2003, the year of the launch of Textures debut album Polars, the first reactions start to stream in: This is the best metal album thats ever come out of the Netherlands according to the Dutch music magazine Oor. The standard is set. Textures, once just a promising up-and-coming band from Tilburg, The Netherlands, has now emerged, 3 albums later, as an established name in the worldwide metal scene. The bands fourth album Dualism - on the bands new home Nuclear Blast - is groovier, catchier, and the production even grander than its 2008 predecessor Silhouettes. Textures Format: Audio CD. This new album only confirms their increasing popularity & talent: Original, imaginative and innovative are only a few ways to describe textures when listening to Drawing Circles, words are not enough to describe this perfect hybrid of metal and hardcore.
