Countdown to Ecstasy is the second studio album by the American rock band Steely Dan, released in July 1973 by ABC Records. It was recorded at Caribou Ranch in Nederland, Colorado and at The Village Recorder in West Los Angeles, California. After the departure of vocalist David Palmer, the group recorded the album with Donald Fagen singing lead on all the songs. Can't Buy a Thrill is the debut studio album by the American rock band Steely Dan, released in November 1972 by ABC Records. It was produced by Gary Katz and written mostly by band members Donald Fagen and Walter Becker. The album was recorded at The Village Recorder in Los Angeles. Two songs recorded during the Can't Buy a Thrill sessions were left off the album and released as a single: Dallas bw Sail the Waterway.
