Sound Tribe Sector 9 STS9 is an instrumental band whose sound is based heavily on instrumental rock and electronic music, funk, jazz, drum and bass, psychedelia, and hip hop, originating in Georgia, United States. Self-described as post-rock dance music, the band mixes standard live rock instrumentation with electronics, favoring group rhythm over individual solos. Band Name Sound Tribe Sector 9. First off, STS9 seems to have embarked on a new direction with this album. Different sound, but wouldn't say it feels 80s at all. Perhaps more pessimistic or dark than their previous works. All of their previous albums had hit and miss songs and this one is the same. One thing that frustrates me a little is that most of the tracks that I like on this album start out really solid and defining - making a statement - but then the either song wimps out or statement seems to gets clouded up by too much noise and the song looses a bit of it's steam. See which songs from which albums Sound Tribe Sector 9 played during the Peaceblaster Tour by Sound Tribe Sector 9. was sampled in. Undercover ScubaDiver by Lil B 2011. Theres good reason to be off-put by the concept of an electronic jam band. Where Peaceblaster trips is when STS9 let their political conscience, heavy on this release, if the track titles are any indication, get the best of them. But ultimately, these are minor complaints, and given that the album is instrumental save for a brief sample on an interlude track, listeners are mercifully saved from melodramatic, socially conscious lyrics
