While the album is not replicated in its entirety, Live at the Paradiso 1969 1995 presents a vast majority of the LP with a lean and ravenous capital A Attack. The disc commences with a swirling and swaggering reading of the Hopper-driven medley Hulloder, Dada Was Here, Thank You Pierrot Lunaire, Have You Ever Bean Green, and As Long as He Lies Perfectly Still. Another surprising thing about this album, is the high quality of recording especially for a late 60's live taping - in many respects, this shows up the rushed job made of recording the first Soft Machine studio album - this has to be remastered soon - please . soft machine - turns on paradiso 1969 full album 40:21. Live at the Paradiso Amsterdam is Live's first live concert album and DVD. The DVD and CD were recorded over two nights at the Paradiso in Amsterdam. Two studio recordings, Forever and Purifier are included on the album. Singer Ed Kowalczyk said of them, Both songs kind of have this urgency about them, where we almost missed our deadlines. You can feel the urgency and the energy of the session in the songs. FYI: "soft purple" is more like pink vinyl with red white and blue marble splatter. Damn, the vinyl is beautiful but so is the sound. The vocals can be a little rough, it's funny cuz that's even acknowledged in the liner notes as one of the reasons this recording hasn't gotten a proper release over the years. But the sound is epic, speaker-rumbling bliss. The drums are insane on this one and each instrument is clear and defined and bears a saturated analog sound. This ain't no digital remaster I'll tell you that. Very pleased with the sonics on this reissue. That's 2/2 for Real Gone Music, I have two of their releases and both are audiophile grade in terms of detail and vibrancy. The quality is so good at times it sounds like a studio recording. The mastering balances the stereo image expertly, as to recreate the live dynamic which translates well. I would say one of the better sounding records in my collection. I can't believe this reissue is going for so cheap, only 1000 copies pressed and well worth the price for the audio quality.
