In 1999, Richard Pinhas collaborated with French cyber-punk novelist Maurice Dantec on the Schizotrope project, which honored philosopher Gilled Deleuze, a friend of Pinhas' who died in 1995. This album duo became 'Schizotrope' and released their first album, Le Plan, on Sub Rosa early in 1999. The Life And Death of Marie Zorn, named after the heroine in a Dantec novel, was compiled from tapes of North American live shows from 1999. These were Pinhas's first ever shows in North America and he performed in Montreal, Chicago, Philadelphia, New York, Boston and Washington D. The shows featured Dantec reading from Deleuze' works as well as from his own cyber-fiction, accompanied by Pinhas playing guitar, with sound electronically modulated in rea.
