Album

Presto is the thirteenth studio album by Canadian rock band Rush. It was released November 21, 1989 by Anthem Records and was the band's first album released internationally by Atlantic Records following the group's departure from Mercury. After the Hold Your Fire 1987 tour ended in 1988, the group members reconvened in December to decide their next step and agreed to take six months off before starting on a new album. Presto marked another change in Rush's sound, with guitar taking a more dominant. Presto is Rushs 13th studio album, released in 1989. It was recorded at Le Studio in Morin Heights and at McClear Place in Toronto. Presto was Rushs first album with Atlantic Records, which the band signed to in early 1989 after a longstanding relationship with MercuryPolyGram. It was co-produced by Rupert Hine, an English musician, songwriter and producer who had worked with Saga, The Fixx, Howard Jones, and Bob Geldof. One strange quirk at the time was the fact that the first side of Presto was much longer than the second, forcing Rush to instruct fans to play the A side much louder to compensate for sound loss. Judging solely in superficial terms, 1989's Presto is a minor offering in Rush 's massive discography. Released in a wasteland of rock production, the album's indistinct sonic vibe falls somewhere between Rush's synth-driven early '80s era and their guitar-heavy return of the late '90s and early '00s. Then there's that hideous album cover, which features a levitating rabbit in a magic hat. Those warning signs aren't totally irrelevant. Presto . CD Album. Progressive Rock. Show don't tell 5:01. Produced by Rupert Hine And Rush. Show don't tell. How many times do you hear it It goes on all day long Everyone knows everything And no one's ever wrong until later. Who can you believe It's hard to play it safe But apart from a few good friends We don't take anything on faith until later. Band Name Rush. Album Name Presto. Type Album. 发布日期 十一月 1989. 出版公司 Moon Records. War Paint. Anagram for Mongo. Having said that, Presto is not one of those albums. On this return to a more guitar-oriented sound after the synth period that dominated the '80s, the bandmembers emerge from the electronic fog and try to reorient themselves to once again working with their more traditional setup. While none of the songs here are out-and-out terrible, listening to the album definitely gives you the sense that things just aren't quite clicking, as if the band is just a little bit rusty after stepping away from this kind of songwriting for nearly a decade. Presto album. Just better. Presto is the 13th studio album by Canadian rock band Rush, released in 1989. Presto was Rush's first album with their new international label Atlantic Records, which the band signed to in early 1989 after deciding not to renew its contract with MercuryPolyGram Records. The band had intended to co-produce the album with Peter Collins, who had produced the previous two studio albums, Power Windows and Hold Your Fire however, he reluctantly declined the offer for personal reasons. Rush - Presto review: Rush were expected to really pull something out of the hat for this so called back-to-basics release but the relatively uninspired song writing and anaemic production values left many die-hard fans less than happy bunnies. Review Summary: Rush were expected to really pull something out of the hat for this so called back-to-basics release but the relatively uninspired song writing and anaemic production values left many die-hard fans less than happy bunnies. Released November 21, 1989. Presto Tracklist. Show Don't Tell Lyrics. Released in November 21st, 1989, Presto marks another shift in Rushs music: the previous album Hold Your Fire 1987 was the last album that would featured a more synthkeyboards-driven sound. Presto was the first attempt since 1981 Moving Pictures, to return to Alexs guitar leading the songs. Before the recording of Presto, the band decided to take a six-month break, since they were free of deadlines and obligations for the first time in fifteen years
Longitude Temporary
Perhaps Presto (ed. or Counterparts??) is the last of the truly great Rush albums, because at this point in the band's career I had found myself skipping tracks. Presto sounds as though it was produced in a biscuit tin and it sounds really thin but that still doesn't detract from the band's songwriting. It's especially noticeable on early non-remastered versions of the album - apparently the tinniness comes from Rupert Hine's vision of what the Power Trio is all about - I've come to appreciate it though, it gives the music a distinctive sound. The first half of the record is Rush at it's best; only "Chain Lightning" fails to work for me. Touches of brilliance in "The Pass"; (a sequel to 1982's "Subdivisions" - Peart's observations of teenage alienation seen through a pair of wiser, more experienced eyes? It's very good anyway). Social observations continue through "War Paint", whilst "Scars" doesn't sound like anything the band have done before or since (an instant favourite). These songs, although showcasing the musicians' flair for technical skill, at the same time embody fine 'pop' sensibilities which continue in "Superconductor"; a song which ironically de-constructs the role of the entertainer, sort of like "Limelight" part two. "Anagram (For Mongo)" - as the title might suggest - disguises examples of anagrams in the lyrics ("reasoning is partly insane/image just an eyeless game") whilst the instrumentation is lush and replete with washes of Synthesizers and Acoustic Guitars. The final three tracks lag behind their predecessors; "Red Tide" is a passé environmental commentary, "Hand Over Fist" and "Available Light" are kind of bland, AOR slush, however before we get to this point i'm done listening.
Tinny sound is terrible, Rush went downhill when they used "name" producers. Bring back Broon.
