Robert Plant - Now And Zen 1988. and Zen is the fourth solo album by Robert Plant, released 29 February, 1988 by Es Paranza Records. The album made the top 10 in the US No. 6 and UK No. The album was certified triple platinum by the RIAA on 7 September 2001. The album was produced by Tim Palmer, Robert Plant and Phil Johnstone. With a new band and a new perspective on his music, Plant returned in late 1987 with more of the sound that had previously defined him in Led Zeppelin. Although Plant continued to utilize. Now and Zen. Robert Plant - Now and Zen 1988. To favorites 18 Download album. Listen album. Robert Plant. я не любитель цепелинов, но большой любитель всего Планта с его сольников начинал слушать музыку вообще. Now and Zen и Fate of Nations мои самые любимые его работы. DDD. Now and Zen, Robert Plants fourth solo album, is so rich in conceptual invention that you barely notice that Plant sings better on it - with more tone, control and rhythmic acuity - than he has in the seven years since Led Zeppelin imploded. Better, in some ways, than ever. The punning title is apt. The nine tracks on Now and Zen dont simply sound contemporary they point to new ways to transmute roots-rock verities of swing and harmony amid the technological conventions of late-Eighties pop. 이 버전 판매. Although most of the album is comprised of mid-tempo songs aimed at rock radio, Plant includes the lovely ballad Ship of Fools, which demonstrates that he is more than capable of vocal subtlety. Plant, who often uses mysterious and mystical lyrics, writes some of his most direct songs, and the way in which the lyrics complement the melodic arrangements are partially responsible for the commercial success of Now & Zen. This is Robert Plant's best solo album, and a must-own for fans of Led Zeppelin. Track Listing. this is often listed as plant's best solo album but for me it's a stinker when compared to "pictures at eleven" and even "shaken and stirred" and i have a love/hate relationship with s.a.s
apparently there is a real drummer credited as "playing" on this album but to me it sounds like a child with learning difficulties got hold of a drum machine , seriously woeful drumming that for the most part is 2 to 4 bars on a loop on each song with the occassional drum fill thrown in .
i realise that sometimes musicians have to dumb shit down to appeal to the mindless masses but this is taking it a little too far .
the songs i rate as 0/5 .
the pressing itself is great apart from the constant sibilance of the vocals.
4/5

I bought this on CD of course in 1989 and was delighted it said 'a fully digital recording' on the back. It actually got me into Led Zeppelin later that year, and not because of the Zep samples on 'Tall Cool One'!!! Plants solo career is a strange one in the fact that he could have made a new metal band and screamed his nuts off, but from the first solo LP in 1982 he made what seems to be uncommercial music and I don't mean that in a bad way. He kept it rocking but much understated. Just listen to 1985's 'Shaken N Stirred' if you want to hear proof of that. While the music does not always give you the full schtick the voice is always compelling even when he's bellowing out some less than poetic lyrics! I must add he tones it down a bit on this LP and you can here a new singer stepping out of the 70s rock belter. The year is 1988 for Now And Zen and it seems to be time for Plant to really cut loose and this he does. Gone are the sterile guitars and out come the Marshall stacks. The songs are rocking, slick and highly enjoyable. This is the 80s and this is Plant's ultimate 80s LP. Like I said I had the CD, in fact I had the first five solo albums on CD, I sold them on eBay a few years ago as seemed to be just sitting there, but and recently I just bought them all again, but on vinyl this time, for the hell of it, as modern music is becoming a drag. Well as I typed this Now And Zen is blasting from my Rega Planar 2 and heaven knows it sounds fantastic. It's like hearing it for the first time again and I'm glad I got the good sense to back track down memory lane!
