Have begged SHOWTIME to re-release it, air it again, etc. Have repeatedly searched for any news items or links to Reynolds no, am not a stalker indicating he would be performing somewhere. I love him. It's hardly a 'comedy' album - it's just life, which is intrinsically funny if it's done honestly. Only the Truth Is Funny began as a theatrical show and was eventually broadcast on Showtime and nominated for a 1993 Emmy Award for writing. Reynolds was born in Wood Village, Oregon, a suburb of in Portland. His father drowned when Rick was six months old. His manic depressive mother brought in several stepfathers, who were abusive. He graduated. Rick Reynolds, whose confessional one-man show enjoyed a critically acclaimed stage run last year, is fairly successful in translating the piece to TV. Show has a slow start as Reynolds explains the premise of the evening: He is a totally honest person and will withhold nothing from the audience. Trust me, he says, while at the same time describing himself as vain, self-righteous and worse. He then embarks on a personal exegesis about sex, sleep, eating, honesty, fame, death, depression and his childhood that at first seem oddly abstract and impersonal, like a fern-bar philosopher discussing.
