Hackett was born in Wordsley, West Midlands, and raised in the small town of Kingswinford. As such, all instruments featured in his recordings are played by him. Hackett's vocal style ranges between low, Bowie-esque tenor and a higher, aggressive tone that is characterized by his use of multi-tracking to create a larger vocal sound. To date he has recorded 9 albums, the first 6 of which were self published, the last 3 of which have all been released by Vulpiano Records, an independent collective label.
