Recorded April 22, 1959, at Ter-Mar Studios, Chicago.
Microphones used on session were: piano, Shure 556-S; bass, Fentone B&O-50; drums Telefunken M-221. These mikes were fed through a custom 12-channel, 3 position (left, right, center) console to an Ampex 300-2 stereo tape machine, running at 15 i.p.s. Console and tape machine flat (+-1db) through playback from 15 c.p.s. to 23 Kc. Masters were cut on an automatic Scully lathe equipped with Westrex cutting heads. Maximum master level was held to 5.1 cm per second to avoid overloading pickup cartridges.
For accurate reproduction, playback equipment should be set to RIAA equalization. Due to the extended running time of this record, it is recommended that this record be played only on hi-fi equipment, with a level turntable.

They started as primarily a jazz unit but after their hit, The In Crowd, in 1965 the single reached fifth place on the pop charts, and the album second place the trio concentrated more and more on pop material.
