Forget album sales though, because the Ramones career-launching triptych of studio LPs Ramones , Leave Home and Rocket to Russia is still the bedrock of all things punk rock subsequent efforts like Road to Ruin , End of the Century and Mondo Bizarro are none too shabby either and every album in between, with only minor aesthetic deviations, stayed true to the bands. The Ramones were pretty dispirited when they began work on Pleasant Dreams in early 1981. Johnny wanted the group to continue to churn out raw punk songs, while Joey hoped to see them embrace pop.
