Rage Against the Machine album. Rage Against the Machine is the eponymous debut studio album by American rock band Rage Against the Machine, released on November 3, 1992 by Epic Records. The album peaked at number 1 on the US Billboard Heatseekers chart and number 45 on the US Billboard 200. The cover features a photo of the self-immolation of Thích Quảng Đức, a Vietnamese Buddhist monk, in Saigon in 1963. The monk was protesting President Ngô Đình Diệm's administration for. Evil Empire is the second album by the crossover band Rage Against The Machine. It was released in April 1996, almost four years after their debut album. The title is a saying by former US President Ronald Reagan, who described the Soviet Union as the evil empire. Evil Empire was number 1 on the billboard charts and the song Tire Me won a Grammy in 1996 for the best metal performance. Evil Empire Q&A. Rage Against the Machine spent four years making their second album, Evil Empire. As the title suggests, their rage and contempt for the fascist capitalist system in America hadn't declined in the nearly half-decade they were away. Their musical approach didn't change, either. Lead vocalist Zack de la Rocha is caught halfway between the militant raps of Chuck D and the fanatical ravings of a street preacher, shouting out his simplistic, libertarian slogans over the sonically dense assault of the band. Since the band didn't perform together much after 1993, there isn&. Rage Against the Machine, Tire Me - Live in 1996. After the album dropped, Rage only saw their star rise that much more, as the disc hit No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart. And with that fame came the ability to not only spread their message but also bring attention to causes they saw fit. They played the Tibetan Freedom Concert in San Francisco with proceeds going to the Milarepa Fund. Rage Against the Machine hope to change that with their inflammatory blend of roaring guitars, barked raps and political activism. Their lyrics lambaste government corruption, media manipulation, big business, complacency and ambivalence, and the band members practice what they preach. If the bands first album was a call to arms, Evil Empire is a declaration of war, only this time, many of the groups diatribes are aimed at foreign soil. Vocalist and lyricist Zack De La Rocha has become involved with the continuing struggle of the Zapatistas, a group of Mexican farmers seeking emancipation from the ruling class, and at least three songs on Evil Empire address the issue
