Recording started on a Monday in mid-July 1978 most probably 10 or 17 July at Advision Studios with engineer John Leckie and assistant engineer Kenneth Vaughan Thomas. For mixing and overdubs, the band then went into Wessex Studios with. Public Image Limited. UMG от лица компании Virgin BMI - Broadcast Music Inc. Two years later, the Sex Pistols were in tatters, but Rotten was as unsentimental as youd hope. Eddie Spohn I cannot tell you how many times Mister Lydon and company have taken the words out of my mouth. The world is a better place with folks like him and the musicians who work with him. Musically speaking, Public Image presented a logical bridge between Lydons old and new ventures, retaining the punk-rock drive and agitated vocals, but with a greater sonic expanse highlighting Jah Wobbles subterranean basslines and Keith Levenes metallic in the materiality sense guitar grind, and hinting at the dub reggae and Krautrock influences that would inform the early PiL's sound. Not all of First Issue casts such an imposing shadow- after completing the albums first side at Townhouse and Manor Studios, the band had blown its budget, and finished off the albums closing trifecta in a more affordable, lo-fi studio that specialized in reggae tracks.
