The Inherited Repression is proof that these Aussies MEAN BUSINESS I remember first listening to ObServant when it came out. Before that, the only technical death bands I had heard were The Black Dahlia Murder and Decrepit Birth. So with Psycroptic being one of the first death metal bands I started listening to when I REALLY started getting into the genre in 2008, theres sort of a sentimental connection I have with the band whenever I listen to them. But I think that with the release of The Inherited Repression, Psycroptic has become one of the powerhouses that provide the power to the lesser powerhouses Theyve been improving hugely with each release. Overall, The Inherited Repression is a solid album, albeit lacking a certain edge to make it memorable. The best part of the album also seems to be its biggest downfall as the guitar and drum work is excellent despite the fact that most of the tracks sound similar because of it. Thats not to say that every song is bland the opener of Carries Of The Plague and the aforementioned Deprivation are the two most notable songs due to their technicality and ferocity.
