Pink Floyds The Wall was the best-selling album of 1980, and consumed the band for much of the early part of the next decade. It also caused irreparable structural damage to the band that eventually led to its collapse. In the early part of 1979, when Pink Floyd convened in Miravel in the south of France to record what would become their massive The Wall, bassist Roger Waters was very much the man at the helm of the giant prog rock band.
