Go West is a song by American disco group Village People, released as the lead single from their fourth studio album of the same name 1979. It was written by Jacques Morali, Henri Belolo and the group's lead singer Victor Willis. The song was successful in the disco scene during the late 1970s. It is the song they originally chose to cover at their Hacienda concert the previous year. I was at home in my flat , recalls Chris, playing, as I often do, The Village Peoples Greatest Hits album and I though Go West would be a good song to play at a Derek Jarman event, a song about an idealistic, gay utopia.
