Superimpose was Paul's first album and despite the other reviewers comments i think it is a good introduction album and worth a listen if you like Kalkbrenners sound. I do think it's not the best he's done but it does tell you where his productions were at the time of joining Bpitch.

It features mostly techno tracks but has a couple of breakbeat ones included. When he gets to his second (and better) album Zeit you can tell he's found his direction and goes along the electro-techno route, which joins with Bpitch's own direction at the time. This album is certainly better than some other techno albums of the same period where established techno DJ's suddenly changed direction to minimal, and not necessarily good minimal at that.

Overall I think they are all good solid tracks but I especially like the introduction Krank with the German spoken word, a very good opener and also tracks 10, 11 and 13 which give you an insight into where his production's will go on Zeit.

Having practically no redeeming qualities whatsoever, 'Superimpose' is painful proof of the fact that Bpitch Control indeed can put a foot wrong. At times reminding me of Laurent Garnier's crappiest achievements, Kalkbrenner's production is so frustratingly empty and boring that you'd sooner or later want to smash your head repeatedly into a brick wall, enjoy a glass of cyanide or slit your wrists. Well, at least I did.

However, Kalkbrenner did manage to turn out quite a reasonable performance on Bpitch Control's 'Gemeinsam' compilation, so i'm still anxious to hear what his latest, 'Self', sounds like. To redeem the 13 dreadful tracks on 'Superimposed', it would have to be completely different class, though.

This is one of the most uninspired records I've heard in a long time. Most tracks are based on a dull two-chord scheme, also the sound is uninteresting. Kalkbrenner tries different rhythm patterns throughout the tracks, but they don't produce interesting effects either, as these are patterns we've all heard million times before used in a much more inventive way. Incredible how I managed to listen to this album all the way through!
