Album

The Pentateuch of the Cosmogony was a double vinyl album released in 1979 It came with 48 page hardback book which was conceived, written and Pentateuch of the Cosmogony is a concept album and multimedia project by Patrick Woodroffe and Dave Greenslade, released in 1979. The project combines a hardback book conceived, written and illustrated by Woodroffe and a double vinyl album of music written and performed by Greenslade. The title means, approximately, 'the first five books pentateuch of the creation cosmogony'. Woodroffe's artwork is heavily inspired by The Garden of Earthly Delights by Hieronymus Bosch. Pentateuch of the Cosmogony. Grand epic fantasy concept album dominated with the keyboard genius of Dave GREENSLADE. Based on the wonderful world created and inked by artist Patrick Woodroffe, GREENSLADE transports us musically into his wonderful world. Woodroffe is a writerartist, and thus does not actually play a note on the album. The Pentateuch of the Cosmogony is in reality Dave Greenslade's second solo album. Greenslade of course found a measure of fame with Colosseum, and subsequently with his eponymous band, although the latter never really made it. Once Greenslade the band had run its course and disbanded, Dave Greenslade decided to peruse a solo career. Greenslade contributes the 74 minutes of music as his second solo project, enlisting Phil Collins amongst others to help. A CD reissue was released in 1994, achieving the awkward transfer of Woodroffe's 12 x 12 book into a 5 square booklet with some success, though the impact of some of the artwork is. lost through this. Dave Greenslade is a bit of an acquired taste but if you like his stuff then this shouldn't disappoint. As a musical journey of discovery of an alien spaceship found drifting it attempts to portray the alien life and the whole it succeeds especially with the nursery section. On listening again after so many years, a little bit of the magic has gone but it's still an enjoyable listen. One of the Albums I needed to complete my early Album collection, but refused to pay the price for. all I need now is 'L' by Creme and Godley. Read more. Comme Patrick Woodroffe en est lui-même illustrateur, il a aussi logiquement écrit les textes totalement abscons et de toutes façons pas traduits. You should add disco to the genre as well ???? I mean, just listen to Forest Kingdom (Side 3, track 1)

This HAS to be one of the best-packaged LPs ever. Even if you don't like the music, this LP is worth getting JUST for the artwork. Just a shame that so much of the detail was lost when it was shrunk down for the cd version (which also has a track missing!) IF you ever see this LP, then you should buy it when you can. The music itself does sound like Dave was enjoying himself.

I agree. It's a funny thing to show friends !
Banal
I have a twin album in the book in excellant condition with a sticker on saying factory sample not for sale on. Is this worth anything?
Pipet
This album was collectible because of the book. If it had been issued as a regular release it would've crashed like a lead balloon especially since it came out during the era of punk and new wave. So no. Whether it was promo or regular wouldn't make a big difference. But then you can never tell with record collectors.

I have a original factory issue version of this LP and book. Is this rare? and has it any differences from the released item?
