Ohinemutu Cultural Group. Ohinemutu Maori Cultural Group. Ohinemutu or Ōhinemutu is a suburb in Rotorua, New Zealand. It is a living Māori village and the original settlement of Rotorua. Ohinemutu had a population of 267 at the 2013 New Zealand census, a decrease of 12 people since the 2006 census. There were 129 males and 135 females. We were with a tour group and our New Zealand guide is a Maori native and walked us to Ohinemutu village. We didn't go into the Maori church but walked by it, saw the many steam vents, different view of the lake and mud bubbling areas. This is part of Rotorua where people still. Ohinemutu is an absolutely fabulous place to visit and must see in Rotorua. It has not changed for over forty years since i first visited, only got better maintained.
